Argo is run by Maria Traver. This page says what information Argo collects, through this website and through the tools Argo builds for clients, and what happens to it. If something here is unclear, email maria@argomodern.com and you will get a straight answer.

The short version

1. This website

When you use the contact form or ask for a free guide, Argo receives what you type: your name, company, email address and message. That is used to reply to you and to send what you asked for. It is not added to any list you did not ask to join.

The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to run and protect the site. The site does not use advertising trackers.

2. Tools connected to your accounts, including QuickBooks

Some tools Argo builds for a client connect to that client's own software, for example QuickBooks Online through Intuit. A connection only happens when an authorised person at the client business approves it on the software provider's own screen.

What is accessed. Only the records the tool needs for the task the client asked for. For a bookkeeping tool that is accounting records such as transactions, accounts, classes and vendors.

How it is used. Only to do that task for that client, for example proposing which transactions belong in a category and, once a person at the client has approved each one, making that change. Nothing is changed in the client's books without that approval.

Where it is kept. On a server set aside for that client, with access limited to Argo. The sign-in pass the software provider issues is stored on that server only, never in email or shared documents, and is not shown to anyone.

Who else sees it. Nobody, except the service providers needed to run the tool (such as the hosting provider) or where the law requires it. It is never sold or shared for marketing.

How long it is kept. For as long as the client uses the tool. When the engagement ends or the client asks, the connection is removed and the copied records are deleted within 30 days.

Disconnecting. A client can disconnect at any time, from inside QuickBooks (Settings, then Apps) or by emailing Argo. Disconnecting stops all access immediately.

3. Health information

Where a client is a healthcare business, any health information Argo handles is covered by a separate written agreement with that client, and that agreement governs how it is protected.

4. Security

Argo uses encrypted connections, limits access to the people doing the work, and keeps a record of changes a tool makes so any change can be undone. No system is perfectly secure, but if Argo learns of a problem affecting your information, you will be told promptly.

5. Your choices

You can ask what information Argo holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email maria@argomodern.com.

6. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. A significant change will be told to clients directly.
